SAI
BABA |
|
||
|
SAI is the holy name given to a very revered Saint of 19/20th century, the SAI BABA OF SHIRDI who attracted devotees to their own FAITH quite often by supranatural miracles. He possessed supernatural powers of such dimensions as have ever been known to mankind. His physical remains were laid to rest in 1918. His devotees visit his shrine in very large numbers and are blessed by Him via his memorials/temples and direct devotion to Him which further sanctifies each one's OWN FAITH. His following is absolutely secular tho' widespread amongst Hindus in particular, yet very many people of other religions too. Chanting His name as one's master or 'guru' brings one closer to one's personal recognition of ALMIGHTY along with material and spiritual benefits. The two most important conditions are (1) faith in his name SAI i.e. 'Shradha' and (2) patience i.e. ' Saburi'. |

Researchers
and authors have mentioned BABA as born of Brahmin parents, very poor
and pious. They handed him over to a Muslim 'Faqir' when he was one year
old or so. The 'Faqir' kept him for five years. When the 'Faqir' died,
he directed his wife to hand over the child to Prince of Selu, a Brahmin
saint, by name Gopal Rao Desmukh, who was identified with Tirupati
Venkatesa. He was Baba's Guru, all-in-all for BABA as 'Venkusa'.
At the age of 16 years, Baba's parting with his Guru was very painful as the Guru expired. At that time BABA was bestowed with all mystical powers and piety of his Guru. Thereafter BABA passed into obscurity as 'faqir' amongst 'faqirs'. It has been recognised by one and all who experienced HIM directly or indirectly, awake or asleep, in distress, normal life or in the pleasures of HIS blessings, that He was a 'purna Brahma-gyani' i.e. a realised super-soul. He is reported to have stated in his mystic state ( and at all times he was in both physical and in mystic state simultaneously ) at different times that." I am Vittal, Srikrishna, Lakshminarayana, Sri Ram Prabhu as also in identity with with Allah". In the tradition of Sufi saints. "Allah Malik" and " Allah Bhala Karega" were his favorite expessions. An article in Telugu daily 'Eenadu' stated the names of His parents from the place of his birth Pathri Village. The date of birth has been stated as September 28th, 1835. These details are possibly not of much concern to his devotees, as he is an ever-growing spiritual phenomenon beyond human comprehension. Jai Sai Ram ! |
